Alexandre Vuistiner from Switzerland and Gudbjorg Margret Bjornsdottir from Iceland where the fastest runners in the 2011 Laugavegur Ultra Marathon that took place today. The weather today was very beautiful and sunny, a bit hot though for some of the runners.

Alexandre (photo) ran the 55k on 4:59:21, the 16th best time in the Laugavegur history. Second was Orvar Steingrimsson from Iceland on 5:02:22 and third Paul Sadjak from Austria on 5:04:12.

Gudbjorg Margret won the womens category on 5:50:54, a three minutes improvement from her personal best. Second was Osk Vilhjalmsdottir on 6:01:04 and third Elisabeth Margeirsdottir on 6:02:42, both from Iceland.

306 runners started the race Landmannalaugar this morning and 289 finished it. Some runners stopped because of injury and some where stopped because they did not arrive to the cut off points in time. Click here to view total results.
